This page explains what Byteyard collects when you visit byteyard.com.au, create a Byteyard account, or connect Parcel Pilot to Byteyard, and what we do with it. "We" and "Byteyard" mean Byteyard, the business that makes Parcel Pilot. You can reach us at [email protected].
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and buy your labels, and nothing more.
- We pass your customers' delivery details to Australia Post to buy each label. We never sell them or use them for marketing.
- Card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store them.
- The website uses one cookie, to keep you signed in. No analytics, no advertising trackers.
The Parcel Pilot plugin
Parcel Pilot runs on your own WordPress site. On its own it sends nothing to Byteyard: the MyPost Business import file, eParcel and checkout rates talk only to Australia Post, using your own keys. Byteyard only receives information once you click Connect to Byteyard in Parcel Pilot.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, when you signed up, and the sign-in links we email you (kept for a short time so each one works only once).
Your stores. Each connected store's web address and name, and when it last talked to Byteyard. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key your store uses, so it can't be read back.
Your MyPost Business connection. Your MyPost Business account number, and the key Australia Post gives Byteyard when you approve it, stored encrypted. We never see your MyPost Business password.
Labels. For each label bought through Byteyard: the order number, service, number of parcels, tracking numbers, the postage cost and whether it was cancelled. To buy the label, Parcel Pilot sends us the recipient's name, business name, delivery address, email and phone, and the parcel sizes, weights and contents, which we pass to Australia Post. Labels made in Parcel Pilot's Demo mode carry none of your customers' details.
Billing. If you choose a paid plan, Stripe handles the payment. We keep your Stripe customer number, your plan and whether it's paid up, never your card details.
Messages. Emails you send to [email protected].
What we use it for
- Signing you in and running your account.
- Buying, printing, cancelling and tracking the labels you ask for, and counting them against your plan.
- Billing, receipts and telling you about problems with your account or labels.
- Answering your questions.
We send you service emails only. If we ever want to send product news, we'll ask first.
Who else handles it
We use a few services to run Byteyard. Each handles information only to do its job for us:
- Australia Post receives delivery details to make and deliver each label, under its privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the website, the service and its database.
- Stripe processes payments for paid plans.
- Brevo sends our emails, such as sign-in links.
Some of these companies store information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We choose providers with strong security and privacy commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details while your account is open. We delete customers' delivery details from our records within 90 days of the label being made, keeping only the order number, tracking numbers and cost for your reports. Billing records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires. When you close your account, we delete the rest within 30 days.
Cookies
byteyard.com.au sets one cookie, by_session, when you sign in, so you stay signed in for up to 30 days. It's removed when you sign out. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Store keys are hashed and MyPost Business keys are encrypted. Only the people who run Byteyard can reach the database, and only to keep the service running or to help you.
Your choices
- Disconnect a store at any time, in Parcel Pilot or on your account page. Its key stops working straight away.
- Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days.
Your customers
If you sell through a store connected to Byteyard, you are responsible for telling your customers that their delivery details go to Australia Post through Byteyard. Parcel Pilot adds suggested wording to your WordPress privacy policy guide for this.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email us first and we'll try to fix it. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect.
